Lucy uses a combination of instinctive mark-making and symbols within her work to reflect the Kingfisher's habitat on the water where it hunts for fish and sometimes struggles with polluted waters. It makes a short sharp whistle call in flight- chee, chee, chee and migrates at night in the winter to coastal areas in the UK. It is currently on the amber list for conservation concern because its numbers have declined.
