The Blackbird Migration
This original artwork shows a cloud of blackbirds gathering to feast on berries, like hawthorn, holly and rowan, a key food source in winter. Resident blackbirds are joined by migratory blackbirds from Scandinavia and other parts of Europe during the non-breeding season, where they exhibit greater tolerance towards each other and can be seen in loose groups, sometimes even roosting together.
The idea for the work came from Lucy's sightings of blackbirds whilst walking her border terrier, Millie around her local village and nature reserve.
Created using acrylic paint and oil pastel on canvas. Size in frame: 103 x 183 cm
The artwork is part of the new collection 'Blackbird' created in 2025 and exhibited at StudionAme (April - May 2025).
The artwork comes framed in a black wooden frame. Provided with mirror plates and D rings to make hanging in your home easy.
